Chuck Amuck!
Bet you thought I was going to call this "Alara's Xavier Page", didn't you? Psych.
Well, having worked the bugs out of Asteroid A (some of them at least), I have been able to add more stories than I expected. I've still got more to go. This is only step one of a larger update cycle, though, so there will soon be more stories, as well as some articles. I have also decided to screw the "adult" page-- it was too damn hard to keep track of it, and frankly, if you're under 18, you probably can read stuff every bit as sexually explicit as anything on this page by just going to the bookstore.
Thanks to Andraste for helping me fix the broken links-- I think now everything is marked as broken, or is fixed. Thanks also to the Internet Wayback Machine for helping me rescue several stories that had gone missing forever.
Stories added are: "Death of a Visionary" by Bani; "Oh,Tiberius!" by Dr. Benway; "Spent Waves", "New Shoes", "Golden", "Full Disclosure" and "Chimera" by Andraste; "Charles Xavier, Barbarian Sex God" and "The Hollow Man" by Alara Rogers; "Crumpled" by Victoria P; "Sleepwalker" by Saathi; "Spoonbending with Mr. Nude" by Amanda Sichter; and "Drifting Toward Infinity", "To The Faithful Departed" and "Let Old Acquaintance..." by Writegirl.
Well, I used to have a lengthy rant up here about how I didn't get why there were so few stories about a character as complex as Xavier, and so many about characters I find pretty shallow. A few people took this as a personal attack on their tastes, which wasn't what I meant to do (I may not understand why so many people want to write about Gambit, but I will defend to the death their right to do so. Or something.) So let me try to be a bit calmer this time. :-)
Charles Xavier is a character who has serious flaws. He's a good man, but no saint. And in the X-books, he's often presented as a saint. Well, saints are boring. So a lot of fan writers seem to either buy into the St. Charles hype, and ignore Xavier as a character because who wants to write about a saint?, or they recognize that Xavier is not a saint but go to the opposite extreme and demonize him. There are actually more Xavier-as-villain stories out there than Magneto-as-villain, I kid you not. Lately, with Xavier's suffering at the hands of Bastion, there seem to be a lot more people finding the hooks into Xavier the person, rather than Xavier the saint or Xavier the demon. This is a good thing. I think Charles Xavier is an extraordinarily complex and interesting character, and it amazes me that so few people want to tackle him.
By the way, the notation Alternate Xavier indicates that Xavier has a role in an Elseworlds, a Power Swap Challenge, an Amalgam, or some other universe that's not a simple What If. Fanfic is all about What Ifs-- the classic Marvel concept of "what if a turning point event happened differently?" In an Alternate story, the concepts behind the characters themselves are so different that you can't identify any individual turning point-- it's something like "what if everyone had different powers", or "what if everyone was of different sexes", or "what if the universe was medieval Europe." Stories where Xavier took a different turn in his life, and became evil-- and they're quite popular-- aren't considered Alternate, as they're just an extreme What If, unless they're also combined with some other radical reworking of the character. The notation Movie Xavier indicates a version of the character based on the movie. Evolution Xavier would be Xavier from the cartoon X-Men: Evolution, and TAS Xavier would be Xavier from the original 90's animated series. Ultimate Xavier is from Marvel's Ultimate X-Men line.

X-Writers is a revisionist fanfic group which started writing their own version of the comics just after Age of Apocalypse. A number of writers have contributed to X-Writers, among them Chris Delaney and Marty Blase, both of whom have independently listed entries as authors above. Note that the main site is a plain index, not a pretty HTML page! The stories which include Xavier, generally as a major character, are:
The Savage Land Saga: Written by Chris Delaney, archived by Shifting Sands. Also archived at the X-Writers' archive site at http://coyote.accessnv.com/lia/archive/, but it spanned several "books"; at Shifting Sands's site the whole thing is sorted into correct chronological order, with notes from Chris.
The Shadow King has taken over Magneto's mindless body, and with the rest of the X-Men gone offworld, it's up to Professor X, Jean Grey and Wolverine to stop him... and they get trashed in the first chapter. Not rated, but contains violence and a lot of disturbing stuff. Not for kiddies.
Uncanny X-Men: Issue 330: Written by Andrew Wheeler.
Magneto, dying of the Legacy Virus, comes to Westchester to confront Charles Xavier.
X-Men Red: Written by Chris Delaney, archived by Shifting Sands. Like the Savage Land Saga, this spans multiple issues, and is (mostly) available at the X-Writers' site as well, but it involves jumping from book to book. This collects all the issues in order.
The sequel to Chris's X-Writers Saga, in which Magneto, Xavier and various X-Men deal with the repercussions of the previous arc.
Uncanny X-Men: Traitor's Gate: The Traitor's Gate saga, written by Andrew Wheeler, is a crossover between X-Men and Uncanny X-Men. It begins with UXM #335 and ends with UXM #337, with issues of XM #55 and #56 interspersed in between. The URL takes you to the main directory for the series.
The real X-Traitor is revealed, and a major X-character dies.
New section! Here's where to go for opinion pieces, news, and FAQs about Xavier, Marvel Universe telepathy, and anything else I think needs to go in here.

Not much here yet. I discovered that Karolina Phillips had done an illo for my story "At A Distance", so even though the illo is of Lilandra and not Xavier, I decided I needed to open a fan art section so I could include it here.
"At A Distance: color" and "At A Distance" black and white by Karolina K Phillips. Archived by Karolina Phillips at Fictional Art. Actually these are of Lilandra, not Charles, but it's an illo to a story on this site, so it counts. (Well, it counts because it's my story, and this is my site, dammit, so I say so. :-))
Magneto and Xavier by Chris Pangle.. A moody, black and white piece of the two staring up at the stars.
So You Wanna Read More About... Charles Xavier: By Kielle. Archived by Alara Rogers.
The first of Kielle's semi-regular "So You Wanna Read More About..." articles on
CFAN. Lists several Xavier tales, with links and Kielle's opinions. Some overlap with this page. Note that I strongly disagree with Kielle's belief that Charles Xavier was out of character in Legionquest, as I think that series is practically definitive for his friendship with Magneto, and I can't figure out what she thought was out-of-character about it. Just had to say so. :-)IMHO: Random Thoughts and Violent Bastardy #3: By Dex. Archived by Alicia McKenzie.
Dex's third "IMHO" reviews several Charles Xavier stories, including "A Dark And Hungry God Arises" and "Knock Knock."
IMHO: Random Thoughts and Violent Bastardy #6: By Dex. Archived by Alicia McKenzie.
The Christmas "IMHO" reviews "'Til Christmas" and other Christmas stories.
